Making a difference, this festive season

By Alex Morris

As we reflect on 2020 we will probably all agree on one thing – it’s been a very, very different year.

Despite the huge challenges the pandemic has created around the world, affecting 75 million people and claiming just under 2 million lives, the realisation that we are all in this thing together has, we feel, brought out the best in many people.  We are certainly grateful to how our clients and partners have weathered the storm with us during this time. So, we wanted to do something different as we came to the end of an unusual year.

With everyone now working from home, we were faced with a slightly lesser challenge as usually we send holiday greeting cards and edible treats to our customers, media friends and business partners – something fun to share at a time when we can also reflect on the important things in life.

But with no physical offices to send these cards and treats to, we’ve decided to take the budget we’d otherwise spend sending out cards and treats, turning it into a donation of $4,000 to global charity Médecins Sans Frontières, also known as Doctors Without Borders.

Médecins Sans Frontières is an international, independent medical humanitarian organisation that provides medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from healthcare with a team of tens of hundreds of locally hired health professionals, logistics and administrative staff. With places in the world needing the COVID-19 vaccine the most, yet can afford it the least, we wanted to ensure that our money, which is usually spent on contributing towards our clients waistlines, went towards this global charity which is destined to play a big part in the coming months to deploy the vaccine and other essential medical supplies.

So, if you don’t get a card or treat from us this year I hope this message instead puts a smile on your face. Doing this certainly gave us all a warm glow.

We plan to make MSF one of our global charities of choice next year, so watch this space for other ways we hope to raise further funds to support the work these amazing people do.
