From Farnham to Austin with Katie
By Katie Gascoyne, Senior Account Executive
One of the many benefits of working at Touchdown is the opportunity to travel between our international offices. The company puts a high precedence on nurturing the relationship between the UK, US and EMEA teams, encouraging all team members to take the time to get to know the colleagues we don’t get the opportunity to see every day.
In 2017, I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in the Austin office as well as a few days in Amsterdam with our team there. This year, I was presented with the chance to go back to the US for an extended trip, and I certainly didn’t need asking twice!
So far I’m about half way into my time here and it’s been an amazing experience. It’s been great spending time with our American team both inside and out of work. They have been perfect hosts and really been showing me what Austin is all about – the music, the food and savouring the sunshine!
One of the great advantages of this opportunity has been the chance to see how our UK and US way of life varies. The team has kindly shown me some of the top Austin tourist spots, including the State Capitol, Zilker Park and Barton Springs, the 360 Bridge and seeing the bats emerge from under South Congress bridge.
It really does have such a big impact to collaborate more with the team here in person and does great things for keeping us all aligned. Whether its content brainstorming, getting a different perspective on an article or even just jointly leading a call, it all brings us closer as one team. These strong relationships and shared perspectives make Touchdown a great place to work, and a force to be reckoned with on the international B2B technology PR stage.
This cross collaboration will be extended even further in September when the wider team touch down on Texan soil for our annual company offsite, where we’ll be headed off to a ranch deep in the desert to bond as a team and enjoy everything Austin has to offer!
